Flood Problem.

Yesterdays deluge again highlighted the problems regarding flash flooding in various parts of the village and surrounding area. One notable trouble spot yesterday, as often in the past, was on King Street behind the Lamb Inn car park. Had the rain continued much longer the road would have been impassible for pedestrians. Perhaps its time some action was taken to relieve this persistant problem.

The village car park next to the Wyndham Surgery was pretty bad too- wellies were needed! Mind you, the rain was exceptionally heavy.

The village car park is owned by MDDC. They are arranging this summer for the area that floods regularly to be drained down into the rainwater drains of the community hall, which is at a lower level than the car park, and from there into the village rainwater sewers. This should solve the problem once and for all. MDDC will be paying for the work so there will be no cost to the parish or the community hall. They will also carry out refurbishment of the broken walls around the hall at their expense as part of the agreement.
