The street market theme for 2009 is to be carnival ,so it seems. I thouhjt yjis one had been done before, I dont suppose it will be much like the Brazilian event unfortunately, I suspect it wil be just another opportunity for the usual suspects to have a change of costume. One suggestion however, perhaps we could have a samba band or similar doing the afternon stint outside the Lamb rather then the clapped out bunch of old jazzers who really are beginning to get a little bit by their sell by date.
Alternatively, perhaps we could bring in a couple of sound systems from the Notting Hill Carnival, but I suspect that could be a bit radical for this part of the world.

Regarding Notting Hill Carnival, has anyone given any consideration to a Steel Band at the street market.
I think this would be fantastic and be a little unusual.
Excellent suggestion. Suggest you mention it to one of the street market commitee, Dave Cole perhaps.
We are thinking along those lines. Perhaps Alan can serve 'Reggae Reggae Sauce' with the meals on Street Market day.
Estover Community College in Plymouth used to have an excellent reputation for steel bands, samba bands and junk bands. Might be worth looking into.
From the recent TV coverage of the Respect festival in Plymouth they seem to have a wide range of such talent down there.
Steady on, Tobireg old chap, steady on !
We were more than surprised to see ageism on the blog, with phrases such as “a clapped out bunch of old jazzers”, and unkind mentions of sell by dates. We, your friends, are “old rockers”, (clapped out ?), desperately trying to emulate The Stones, and only really held back by a dearth of suitable groupies in the village. What happened to the ones we knew in our youth, have they all retired ?
I think you should treat us all to a pint of Sanatogen - or maybe it should be Buckie !!
P.S. Former groupies should contact the Blogger with reports on their state of readiness !
Possibly I was a bit harsh . Anyway, we al know that The Cougars are in fact, bionic and have been also regenerated in the Doctor Who manner on a number of occasions.
