Hall site sold....again

The 'sold' sign has again gone up on the site of the late, lamented New Hall and so and so the saga enters another chapter. Will anything actually get built on it this time around ?.

Will the old Londis building be next ?.

Glad you brought this one up. It's a darn travesity that it ever got planning permission for 5 properties in the first place. I questioned the planning department at MDDC about the parking issue that would only be worsened by this development (and the consequent permission given for two homes on the site of Bill Cole's bungalow - God rest his soul, and let's not forget the laughable little houses just built on Exeter Road ). I was told that the government does not require ANY parking to be provided with a planned property as they are trying to encourage using public transport over private vehicles. Admirable theory, but considering we are not living on Kensington High street and thus do not have a number 10 bus every 5 minutes, it doesn't quite work in practice. Perhaps Mr Brown and indeed MDDC should look at the reality, an infrequent service to the village directly and the astronomical cost of the bus to those of us not in receipt of bus pass!!

In response to the frenzied spate of allowed planning permission the Parish council has asked the planning officers at MDDC to attend the Parish council meeting this evening ( 7pm in the Community Hall, I believe). Perhaps the presence of a few disgruntled parishioners at the meeting might push the message home, cramming houses on handkerchief size plots and the subsequent parking and access issues affects the village. And contrary to the belief of MDDC when allowing planning permission of such small houses, with them being sold at greatly exaggerated prices does not benefit the community. Those in need of homes cannot afford the circa 200k price tags!!!

OK, rant over!!!

Unfortunately, MDDC does not make up the planning laws, they have to enforce the laws passed by parliament, and have targets to hit for the building of new homes. If they had not agreed to build five houses on the old hall site they would have to consider agreeing to build them on that nice green field near where you live.

Which they probably will do anyway sooner or later.
